A college management system for Quaid-e-Azam Medical College
The QAMC Academic Management System runs admissions, students, teachers, lectures, timetables and attendance for a medical college in Bahawalpur, from one place.
- 2,007 students
- 141 teachers
- 38 departments
- 907,528 attendance records
The challenge
What a medical college needed from its college management system
Quaid-e-Azam Medical College in Bahawalpur teaches thousands of students across dozens of departments. Every day brings lectures to schedule, attendance to record and students to keep informed.
The college needed a college management system that brought admissions, student records, teachers, lectures and timetables together, so staff work from the same data instead of separate lists.
It also had to scale: attendance for every lecture adds up quickly, and reports have to stay useful as the records grow.
Project goals
- Admissions and student records in one system
- Lectures and timetables by department
- Attendance recorded for every lecture
- SMS updates to students
- Reports for college administration
What we built
One academic system, organised around the way a medical college actually runs.
Admissions and students
Student admissions and records by session and degree, so every student sits in the right year and programme.
Departments and teachers
Departments, teachers and designations kept in one directory that lectures and timetables draw on.
Lectures and timetables
Subjects, lecture types and timetables per department, with holidays taken into account.
Attendance
Attendance recorded lecture by lecture. The system already holds more than 900,000 attendance records.
SMS
SMS messaging from inside the system, so students can be reached without a separate tool.
Reports
Reports for administration across students, teachers, lectures and attendance.
Results
The system in use today
The QAMC Academic Management System is live and in daily use at the college. Its dashboard currently shows 2,007 students, 141 teachers, 38 departments, 91 lectures, 142 subjects and 907,528 attendance records.
Admissions, lectures, timetables and attendance share one database, so the college works from a single, current picture instead of reconciling separate records.
